these years. He still had hope that he could have Desiree. There was something about her that set her apart from all the women he interacted with. He was not sure what it was. Maybe it was her pure heart or the way she seemed to be so honest with her feelings. Whatever it was, he loved it. He loved her and he wanted her back.
“I’m sorry,” he said looking at her. “But I really want you back,” he said in almost a pleading voice.
“I am seeing someone now, Leon, and even if I wasn’t, I would never come back to you,” she said looking at him. Leon took her hands in his again.
“We had something special,” Leon said leaning in close to her. She could smell his rich masculine cologne. Even now, that scent still drove her wild. “I know you still feel something for me, too,” he said leaning in even closer. By this time, he was literally inches away from her face. She yanked her hands away and stood up before quickly walking to the kitchen. She switched off the stove and turned the oven off before walking back to the living room. She looked at him and crossed her arms across her chest. She did not know it, but every time she did that, her cleavage that needed no help being noticed would come into full view, and Leon was enjoying every minute of the free show. He looked at her and wondered what she was going to say.
“Leon, the guy I’m seeing, he is nice and he makes me happy. He has never lied to me the way you did,” she said. Her cheeks flushed when she remembered the way Taylor had first talked of being a great IT guy, but she had lied to him too. And their little white lies were nothing compared to the trash Leon had fed her over the years when they were together. “I would never trade him for anything. Not even the memory of the good time that was all a lie anyway,” she said. Leon nodded and stood up.
“So, there is nothing at all between us?” he asked. Desiree shook her head.
“No,” she said in a whisper.
“Not even a chance that we could rebuild a happy memory?” he asked as he moved closer to her. She shook her head.
“That’s just it, Leon. Even the memory is a lie,” she said, looking at him. “I want something else. I need something else and Leon, I have that something else,” she said with a smile. Leon looked at her and smiled.
“So you are really happy with this guy?” he asked. Desiree smiled and nodded.
“Very,” she said, almost squealing.
“And do you love him?” he asked as he took another step towards her. He looked into her eyes as she said the one word he did not want to hear when it came to Desiree and any other man.
“Yes, I really do,” she said in a whisper. He looked at her and shook his head. “You need to move on too, and this time, tell her the truth,” she said. Leon put an arm around her and held her against him. Desiree was not sure what he was doing. Leon had proven to be a man who loved surprise over the years. “Leon, what are you doing?” she asked as she tried to free herself. She put her puny hands on his chest and tried to push him off, but nothing she did seemed to work. His grip was so tight, almost hurting her.
“I have to find out if you really are in love,” he said before bringing his head down. Their lips met in a violent smudge as Desiree continued struggling. At that moment, Cynthia and Rochelle came rushing into the living room.
“What the hell is going on? Let go of her!” Rochelle screamed as she flung herself at Leon, pulling him off her sister. Cynthia rushed over to Desiree and put a comforting arm around her.
“What the fuck is your problem? She’s moved on. Get the hell out of her life!” Cynthia said angrily. She looked at Leon, who looked a bit confused.
“I’m sorry…” he started saying. Desiree looked at him and felt disgusted. She could not believe that she was once in love with him.
“Just go,” she said. Leon opened his mouth to say something but she would not let him. “Get out!” she
