him in the few hours that they conversed on the plane. A smile
crossed his face when he recalled her grabbing her cell phone out
of his lap. She definitely grabbed a lot more than just her device.
Trey was getting aroused at the thought of her grabbing him like
that purposefully and not on accident.
It had been a couple of years since he
had been with someone. He was being very careful with his personal
life knowing that it was a possibility that he would be running for
office. He didn’t want any type of negative publicity affecting his
chances of being elected into office. He learned from his father’s
campaign that if there was a skeleton in the closet, it will be put
on display for the world to see. Everyone was looking for their
fifteen minutes of fame, even if it was at someone else’s
expense.
He wanted to blame his long abstinence
for the effect that Elise was having on him, but his interest in
her was far beyond the physical. She was a smart girl and obviously
had really great business sense for her to grow such a profitable
company in such a short time. She was also funny and witty and was
able to laugh at herself. And the gesture that her friend made with
surprise gifts that she left for Elise spoke volumes to her
character. Her friends loved her and wanted to see her happy which
means she felt the same way about her friends. Trey was rooting for
Elise to find what she was looking for in Paris.
He got out of the shower and put on a
robe heading outside to see if breakfast was delivered. He found a
plate of fresh fruit, croissants, and coffee on the table out on
the terrace. He went back inside and grabbed his laptop bag hoping
to do a little work before lunch. He placed the bag on the empty
chair next to his and something red caught his eye in one of the
pocket areas outside the bag. He reached in and instantly
recognized the bow and the already opened envelope. It was one of
the envelopes that Elise had opened on the plane. That brought a
smile to his face. When he turned the envelope over, he saw his
name written across the front with two words right underneath –
First Move.
Trey laughed aloud and opened the
envelope to find all the second tickets and vouchers her friend
bought for her. He was flattered. It was a really sweet gesture on
her part, and she wasn’t lying when she said she didn’t mind making
the first move. Unfortunately, Trey wouldn’t be able to attend any
of those events with her. He didn’t want to give her the wrong idea
or lead her on in any way. That wouldn’t be fair to her.
He really wished he had her number so
he could call her personally thanking her for her consideration and
explaining to her that he couldn’t attend. It would be rude of him
to let her think he just stood her up, or he wasn’t interested. He
put down the envelope on the table and grabbed a cup of coffee and
a croissant and decided to Google her. Maybe he would get her
corporate number in New York, and they could help him contact
her.
He stood up on the terrace and casually
looked down into the courtyard as he punched in the number of her
corporate office in his phone. He must have been tired or just had
too much Elise on the brain because he saw a woman walking through
the courtyard with shopping bags in her hand that looked just like
Elise. But that was impossible. What were the odds that she was
staying at the exact same hotel as he was?
His call was interrupted by a knock on
the door. He hung up the phone, suddenly remembering the time
difference and promised himself he would make the call as soon as
he could. When he opened the door to his suite, his brother, Will,
was standing there.
Trey had two younger siblings – Will
and Sophia. Will was a very accomplished architect who worked out
of the D.C. and New York area. His sister Sophia was a nurse, and
she lived in Louisiana with her husband and two small
children.
“Hey bro! You just getting here?” Will
came into his suite and shook
