his home. âAnd why arenât you at the basketball game with Mercury and Gannon?â
âI had better things to do.â
Eli rolled his eyes. âIn other words, your team didnât make it to the finals. Everyone knows what a sore loser you are.â
Tyson frowned. âIâm not a sore loser.â He then glanced around. âWhereâs Stacey?â
His once die-hard bachelor brother had defected and married, just like his brothers Galen and Jonas. The only thing redeeming about that was heâd married Stacey Carlson. She was the sister of a good friend and former colleague of Tysonâs by the name of Cohen.
âStaceyâs in bed, where most people with good sense are by now,â Eli said, dropping down on the sofa. âI hear Brittany and the babies might be going home tomorrow.â
Tyson nodded. âSo I heard.â
âWord also has it that Mom has volunteered to help out for a few days. I hope she doesnât get on Galenâs nerves.â
Tyson chuckled. âI doubt that she will. Heâs been in her good graces ever since he was the first to get married. Besides, helping out with the babies will keep her busy.â
âAnd the busier she is the less chance she has to get into your businessâand Mercuryâs and Gannonâsâright?â
âRight,â Tyson said, knowing Eli understood. Before he married, heâd gotten the Eden Tyson Steeleâs âsticking her nose where it doesnât belongâ treatment, just like the rest of them. Now, with three sons married, she was relentless on the other three, prodding them along to get them to the altar. Tyson vowed it wouldnât work on him. âSo who do you think the babies look like?â
Eli chuckled. âWith those green eyes, forehead and lips, they favor Galen all the way. I havenât heard their decisions on names, have you?â
âNope, but rumor has it theyâre allowing Mom to do the honors.â
Eli shook his head. âNo wonder sheâs blowing up the newspapers. Sheâs up there on cloud nine.â
âFine. She can stay there for a while,â Tyson said. âJust as long as sheâs not into my business while sheâs up there.â
âYou and Mercury and Gannon will get a slight reprieve, but donât think sheâll let you guys off the hook for good.â Eli didnât say anything for a minute as he stared across the room at his brother and then he said, âOkay, get it out. Thereâs a reason you dropped by so late.â
Tyson sat down in the wingback chair across from the sofa. âThere is. Hunter McKayâs back in town.â
Eliâs forehead bunched. âWhoâs Hunter McKay?â
Tyson rolled his eyes. âI canât believe you donât remember Hunter. But I shouldnât be surprised. Back in the day, the old Eli remembered bodies and not names.â
A smile curved Eliâs lips. âTrue. So was she one of those bodies?â
âHell, no! She was my girl.â
âYou never had a girl, Tyson.â
His brother was right and for the life of him Tyson wasnât sure why heâd said what he had just now. âSorry, saying that was a huge mistake.â
âI hope thereâs not a reason why you made it. And lower your voice or youâll wake up my wife and she needs her rest.â
Tyson didnât need to ask why. It seemed that all his married brothers had wedded women they enjoyed spending time with in and out of the bedroom. âThereâs not a reason.â
Eli stared at him for a long moment and then asked, âSo whatâs the big deal about this Hunter McKay being back in town?â
âIt just is.â
âHey, wait a minute,â Eli said, sitting straight up on the sofa. âThat name is coming back to me. Isnât Hunter McKay the girl who dumped you in your senior year of high school?â
âShe
