his hips faster.
Murmuring incoherently, she turned her face away from him, astounded by the impact.
Three more deep thrusts, and Kenner groaned loud and trembled, his movements beginning to slow.
They panted, holding each other, and Thea was sure once he pulled away, she wouldn’t be able to stand on her own without sinking to the floor. But he didn’t let go right away; he remained inside her, holding her, exhaling on her neck.
Okay…that was different. She’d had good sex before, but not like with that kind of carnal ferocity. Not with someone whose last name she didn’t even know.
Part of her wanted to push him away, with a look of total disbelief and even a little fear of the level of intensity, but she didn’t. She could handle this. Just relax.
Kenner kissed her collarbone, then gently eased out. Her chest rose and fell with each needed breath while he calmly removed the condom, then tucked himself in his underwear, fastened his zipper and belt buckle. Finally able to use her legs, Thea climbed off, pulled her panties on, and smoothed her skirt down.
This was a first for her. She didn’t know what to say, let alone what to do.
Her hands shook as she fastened her bra, avoiding his eyes while he buttoned his shirt. Did he expect her to say something? Did anything need to be said? Determined to make this as less awkward as possible, she buttoned her blouse and tucked it in, then ran a hand to smooth her hair. “Well…”
He quirked a brow, then raked a hand down his mouth and chin. “Well.”
Yes, there was definitely nothing they had to say at this point except… “Goodnight.” She reached to grab her clutch, then headed toward the roof door.
Kenner caught her hand. “Wait.”
She turned and met his gaze.
“Come home with me.”
It was an invitation she didn’t expect. They’d already had sex. What more did he want? Obviously, more of that.
And she did too.
“Okay,” she whispered, shocking herself and him.
They took a cab. He didn’t live far from the lounge, only a few miles away in a luxury, upscale apartment building. Neither of them said anything on the way there, but she felt any attempt at filling the silence would come across as nervousness, and break the spell they’d created.
His home was contemporary and spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows, stainless steel appliances, marble countertops, and overstuffed burgundy leather furnishings, from what she could see in the dim light of the foyer. Utterly masculine, but barren for the most part. She surmised he must be a very good “ad exec” to be able to afford a place like this in the heart of San Francisco.
“Would you like something to drink?” he asked. His shoes punctuated on the hardwood floors while he strolled to his kitchen.
“Water, please.”
After he handed her a glass, she swallowed most of it, then kicked off her shoes and headed toward the bedroom.
No Christmas decorations whatsoever. No pictures on the wall. Just an unadorned, white-walled, minimally furnished, painfully expensive residence. The interior decorator in her squealed at what she could do with a space like this. But no, she wasn’t there to be an interior decorator, she was there to be a one-night stand.
CHAPTER FOUR
Mind-blowing sex on the roof should’ve been enough to satiate Kenner’s lust and loneliness.
It wasn’t.
Even after getting the sweetest gift all year, he wanted more. He never made it a habit to bring one-night stands back to his place; he always got a hotel room. Over the years, he’d learned it was wiser not to reveal where he called home. The couple times he made that mistake, women would show up at his door and ask why he never called them. He sensed Thea wouldn’t be one of those however.
He knew she’d never done anything like they’d done before: sex in public with a man she barely knew.
So caught up in the moment afterward, he was belatedly shocked he’d seduced Thea so quickly, then realized it was her
