spring. Well, maybe after a shower, but he doubted his legs would hold him up just yet.
“So, what did Hex want to know?” Eyce’s voice still sound deep and sexy, though a little breathless, and Echo turned his face into the cushions and smiled.
“Huh?” Myst shook his head quickly and actually smacked himself in the forehead with the heel of his hand. “He wants to know if you guys found munchies for the bloodsuckers.”
“He did not say that!” Echo sat up on the sofa quickly and glared.
Myst winced and hung his head like a whipped dog. “I, uh, might be paraphrasing a bit.”
“We were looking into it when we got kind of…sidetracked.” Vapre’s eyes sparkled mischievously, and he wiggled his eyebrows at Echo.
“Okay, well he said we’re having a meeting in the kitchen in ten minutes to decide who’s going and who’s staying with the blo—uh, vampires.” Myst cast a look at Echo out of the corner of his eye and looked away quickly. The other warriors tried to hide their amusement, but Echo wasn’t fooled.
He shook his head and chuckled under his breath. They were trouble, every last one of them. Trouble with a capital T, all wrapped up in gorgeous packages of rippling muscles and killer smiles. Myst currently had his grin cranked up to megawatt and turned it on Echo. Oh, hell, a man that big should not look so damn adorable, and he should definitely not have dimples.
Those pearly whites weren’t going to distract him, though. “I’ll jump in the shower and meet in the kitchen in ten minutes. Don’t start without me.” Hex had already agreed that Echo would accompany them, but he knew his lovers too well. If he gave them the chance, they’d try to talk their big alpha out of it.
“Take your time, babe,” Fiero said with a tight smile.
Yep, they were up to something.

Everyone filed into the kitchen and either took seats or found a piece of wall or counter to hold them up. Hex caught a flash of jade green when Syx looked his way, and it only caused the pounding in his head to increase. There had been so many changes in their lives in the last few months, he figured his men’s changing eye color should be the least of his concerns. If he just knew why maybe he’d be able to stop worrying about it.
“Where’s Echo?” Hex scanned the room again in case he’d missed the man on his first pass.
“Shower,” Eyce mumbled. He stepped a little closer to Hex and the other five followed. “You’re not really going to let him go, are you? You saw what happened last time. Fuck!” He shoved a hand through his long dark hair. “This is a bad idea, man.”
Hex closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. “We’ve already discussed this. Not only can he help, but there’s no guarantee that he will be safe here. I’d rather have him with us.”
“What if a few of us stay here with Echo? I mean, we need someone to keep an eye on the vamps anyway.” Vapre crossed his arms over his chest and glared. “This is a bad idea, Hex.”
Motherfucker! Couldn’t they gang up on him later when it didn’t feel like his brain was going to leak out of ears and nose? “It’s not open for debate,” he said as calmly as possible. “We all know how strong he is. He could help. He’s going.”
“And what if something happens to him?” Fiero countered. “How are you going to feel then? He might have stronger powers than us, but he’s not a warrior, Hex!”
“What do you want me to say? Do you want me to ground him like a fucking teenager?” Hex could feel his temper rising, the throbbing in his temples growing until little spots danced before his eyes. “He’s not a child, and I’m not going to treat him like one. If he thinks he can help, then he’s going!” He roared the last word, reaching out quickly to steady himself with a hand on the refrigerator.
Luckily, no one seemed to notice anything. They were too busy mumbling mutinously under their breaths. Unluckily,
