moment, his eyes narrowed. He smiled, and I held my breath at the way he looked me over from head to toe. “I’ll keep you too busy for him to even have half a chance of catching your attention.” He pushed back the sleeve of his suit to check his watch. “Ten and a half hours, assuming his twelve hour estimate is correct. I can probably call in a favor and make sure Mr. Smith stays away for the duration. Alternatively, I can drive him away should he happen to interrupt us. Which would you prefer?”
Even without the drug influencing me, I would have been intrigued by Rob’s offer. Whenever he checked his watch with a leering smile, he had some new trick up his sleeve. Without fail, his tricks left us both satisfied.
If Kenneth drugged me so he could have me as he wanted, robbing him of his desires would make my time with Rob all the sweeter.
“And if we’re interrupted?” I asked, matching him stare for stare.
“I’ll make sure I take a picture of his expression for you to enjoy for years to come.”
I could live with that, and I told him so. His smile turned sensual, and he stalked towards me, leaving me with no doubt of his intention and desire.
I welcomed him with open arms and a smile of my own.

The interruption I feared came at midday, and I flinched at the knock on my door. Rob grumbled, rolled away from me, and paused long enough to kiss me.
“I won’t be long,” he promised, and with his most playful smirk on his lips, he headed for the door, grabbing his bathrobe on the way.
I used the time to catch my breath, wiggling my way under the blanket. Rob hadn’t changed much about my apartment since he had invaded several months ago, but the soft blanket was a welcomed addition.
With the drug still coursing through me, its plush texture was divine. I heard the murmur of voices in the other room, and Rob’s deepened with his annoyance. While Rob undoubtedly wanted to put an end to Kenneth sooner rather than later, we couldn’t kill my boss, not yet. First, we had to ruin him and make him so despised by the other elite they wouldn’t care if he disappeared or was found floating in the river.
I stretched, making a pleased noise in my throat at the way the fabric caressed me. The drug’s intensity had waned enough I was no longer completely at its mercy and slave to the faintest stimulation.
Without the burning ache and desire for pleasure driving me, a pleasant numbness settled over me, keeping me relaxed despite my awareness Rob was in the other room with Kenneth and possibly his dae, too.
I should have been afraid and worried.
The door in the main room slammed, and Rob laughed before strutting his way back into the bedroom. He held his slender cell phone in his hand. “I come bearing a gift of photographs, my dearest Alexa.”
He dropped the bathrobe to the floor and slithered into bed, sliding his hand over the curves of my leg. While the blanket separated us, the rub of the plush fabric and the pressure of his touch conspired to steal my breath. After sliding under the blanket beside me, he presented his phone, and I grabbed it, conscious of the way his body pressed to mine.
Both Kenneth and his dae were featured in the photograph, and both of them had dressed in fine suits. Fury lit Jacob’s eyes a fire red, and Kenneth’s frown promised someone’s death. “Those are two very unhappy men,” I commented. There were only three images, but Rob had managed to capture Kenneth’s rage perfectly.
“I think it’s safe to say Mr. Smith’s attention is now focused on me, since I have what he wants. Now that I have a better idea of how far he’ll go to have his way, I think I’ll be better prepared to deal with him. They won’t be back today, not if they value their lives. That leaves us with the rest of the afternoon. Colby probably won’t be back until after dark.”
    “What is Colby doing, anyway?”
“A little bit of this and a little bit of that,” Rob evaded, pressing a
