moment though, she relaxed in my embrace and clutched me to her. The glasses got in the way, but I ignored them and basked in kissing Ashlyn.
Slowly I pulled away and she stared up into my eyes and whispered, “Dillon?” Chuckling, I nodded. She hit my chest. “You wanker. If it wasn’t for your taste or cologne, I would never have guessed.”
“That’s the idea. Now no one will know me. So I’m spending the day with you.” I reached for her hand and threaded my fingers through hers. “Zeck is coming, too.” I lowered my voice. “He’s here to keep Sarah occupied so I can be with you.” I watched as her eyes lit up and a huge smile spread over her beautiful face. Damn, she got more gorgeous the more time I spent with her. I swore making her smile had become my new favorite thing.
“I can’t believe you did this.” Her gaze darted over to Zeck. “You both look amazing. Totally different. The glasses are a nice touch.”
Fuck. I’d hoped she would think they were too much so I could take them off. “They’re the most annoying part.” She squeezed my hand, and I enjoyed the feeling. It was nice to do something so simple and have it feel good. Have it feel right. That was the thing with Ashlyn, everything with her felt right. Would spending the day with her feel as perfect as being with her at night? I was going to find out before I lost the chance.

I sat in the comfortable leather seats on the plane trying not to think about my amazing day with Dillon. He had gone on a tour of York Minster and taken a million photos for me, even posing with me in some. Then he’d gone on another tour, one of York Castle, following me around like the tourist I was. It was what he did after the York Castle tour that had me telling myself not to crack, not to start falling for him. He’d hired a boat to take me around York on the river.
Then, before we left for the plane, we had dinner in this cute little restaurant that overlooked the river. He told me about his family. He had a younger brother, the tattoo artist, who drove him nuts. His parents were still together and they were still very much in love. He’d known Zeck the longest in the group. They were friends in school and later met Law. Alec was the last added to their band.
Dillon listened while I told him about myself, being the youngest in the family with two older brothers who were very overprotective. That I was a speech therapist and loved working with young children. We talked so much we had the others call and tell us we were late and holding up the plane. I couldn’t remember a date—day out—with a guy ever going so smoothly.
“So what’s going on with you and Dillon?” Sarah’s question snapped me out of my thoughts.
I shrugged. “Nothing.”
“Bullshit.” Sarah rolled her eyes. “Not only was I there today to see you two, but he hasn’t taken his eyes off you since we got on the plane. I know you’ve been sleeping elsewhere at night. Is he who you’ve been with?”
“It’s nothing. Just fun.”
“Uh-huh, the look he’s giving you now and the kiss he gave you this morning, those aren’t ones of two people just having fun.”
“Mmm, it can’t be any more. He doesn’t want more. I’m staying one more night and then leaving to go off exploring. It won’t work.”
Sarah sighed. “If you say so. But I can tell you now that I think he’s changed his mind. A guy who has his best mate dress up so he can spend time with a girl doesn’t sound like someone who isn’t interested in a relationship.” She patted my knee. “I know you, Ashlyn. You could make it work if you wanted to.”
I nodded, not wanting to voice anything. I needed to think. I needed to figure out what I was willing to do. Would I be willing to give Dillon a chance if he wanted it? I didn’t have to think long because I knew my answer would be a big fat yes.
