    THE JEWEL COLLAR

Once upon a time there was a beautiful
Maltese puppy named Aristotle. He was called Ari for short. Ari was
a Champion show dog but was happiest at home sitting in the garden
and playing with his garden friends.

Ari and his Mommy, Christy, lived in
California in a beautiful house at the beach overlooking the
Newport Harbor.

Ari had many friends in the beach house
garden. The Finches, Mr. & Mrs. Dove, Brandy the Squirrel,
Harry the Cat, Paul the Possum, Mickey the Mallard, the family of
Steve Sparrow and Heather the Hummingbird and her family.

Ari’s Mommy was a very successful trial
attorney who spent most of her time during the day at the
Courthouse, the law library and visiting clients at their
offices.

One day, shortly before Christmas, Ari’s
Mommy came home from work and told Ari that they would be moving
away from the beach to a new home.

Their new home would be close to the train
station so that Ari’s Mommy could take the train to Los Angeles for
Court hearings.

It would also be close to the brand new
Courthouse in downtown Floral Park.

Ari was very sad because he had all of his
garden friends to play with in the beach garden during the day when
his Mommy was at the Courthouse.

It was almost Christmas and Ari was looking
forward to the annual garden friends Christmas party at the
beach.

Ari loved to see the Christmas tree each
year. He was happy now that the lights twinkled on the tree. If
only he had some new friends to play with.

“Mommy, will I have friends to play with at
our new home in Floral Park?” Ari’s Mommy was busily decorating
their home for the Christmas holidays. “Of course you will, Ari.”
She told him.

Ari’s Mommy was very concerned because her
little Ari was so sad and missed playing with his garden friends at
the beach house.

Ari spent most of his time when he was alone
sitting under the dining room table since the move to the new house
away from the beach. He missed his garden friends so very much and
he was very lonely.

The new house was beautiful and it had a
crystal clear swimming pool near the lovely rose garden.

There were many trees, flowers and bushes for
Ari to explore. It was a new and exciting adventure for Ari.

Ari also liked to sit on the edge of the pool
on summer nights listening to the crickets, watching Mickey the
Mallard swim and waiting for Paul the Possum to come out into the
garden at the beach house.

Sadly, for weeks after moving to his new
Floral Park home, Ari was still very lonely. He missed his old
friends and had yet to make friends in the new garden.

He wondered how he could make new friends
until he came
