“Bye, gorgeous,” he said, and was gone.
    ***
After Luke headed out, I cleaned up the wine glasses and stray panties in the living room and spent some time thinking about how the evening had gone.
I was surprised at how much fun I’d had. I’d always thought Luke was cute in a nerdy sort of way, but he’d looked incredible when he showed up at my place and I’d been unbelievably attracted to him. I couldn’t get the image of those abs out of my mind, not to mention what was further south...
I also felt a little guilty at having spent the night with him curled around me. Sleeping beside someone had always felt so much more intimate to me than sleeping WITH them, and our arrangement was supposed to be strictly physical. Luke was really not the type of guy I usually went for, and I didn’t want to lead him on, yet I had felt at home in his arms. Safe, even. I chalked it up to loneliness and a little too much wine and tried to put it out of my mind.
I checked my phone and found a missed call from my best friend Julian, and a text message from Dan waiting for me. I clicked the message from Dan and read:
H ey Babe, thinking about you. Tonight?
Attached was a picture hot enough that my eyes nearly bugged out of my head. Dan knew exactly what kind of affect his body had on me, and he wasn’t shy about using it to get what he wanted. Normally that would have been all he needed to do to make me forget I was mad at him, and get with the make-up sex. This time though, I rolled my eyes.
Typical, I thought, no mention of our missed plans whatsoever.
Deciding I’d had quite enough of Dan’s bullshit, I deleted the message, sexy photo and all.

I called Julian back to let him know how my evening had gone. Julian had been with his boyfriend Bill for 5 years and liked to live vicariously through me and my dalliances. I’d told him about the Luke arrangement and he’d made me promise to tell him all about it.
“ Oooh, Professor Cassandra! How was your big sex ed class?” he jeered before I could even say hello.
“Oh my god Jules, it was amazing. He rocked my fucking world.”
“That little virgin? Honey, I can’t believe it!” said Julian, the shock clear in his voice.
“I know, but there you go. It was great. We took a shower after, and he slept over too,” I said, smiling at the memory.
“And here I thought this was supposed to be no strings attached!”
“It is! Believe me, I’m trying to make sure he doesn't catch any feelings, it just felt nice. Speaking of boys though, Dan sent me a message, and a naked picture.”
“When are you seeing him?” asked Julian, “And when are you sending me the picture?”
“I didn’t answer him,” I said, nonchalantly, “and I deleted the picture.”
“You bitch!” said Julian, “That beautiful Italian with the giant cock? What is this world coming to?”
    “Jealous?”
“Girl, you know I am, but we’re not talking about me. You know what I think?”
“I’m sure you’re going to tell me.”
“I think you’re the one catching feelings for Luke, that’s why you turned down Dan.”
“What?! I just didn’t want to deal with his shit. Please Julian, I don’t do feelings.”
    “ Mhhmm, we’ll see.”
After I got off the phone, I sat down and thought about it. Did I have a crush on Luke? As much as I hated to admit it, there might have been the teeniest bit of truth to what Julian  had said. But was that so wrong? He was nice, smart, cute, and it looked like we knew how to get each other off. Did it really matter that he wasn’t my usual type?
Who knows? I thought, Maybe I just need to keep an open mind.
    ***
I had to admit I was a bit nervous about seeing Luke on Monday morning, but my anxiety went out the window the minute I saw him.
“You aren’t wearing your glasses!” I exclaimed.
Luke grinned “Someone told me I looked hot without them, so I thought it was time I gave contacts another shot.”
    I was pleased he’d
