up, never having realized before just how heavy his head is. Eventually, after another couple of throaty rasps, he clears out whatever was bothering him. He turns back his attention to me.
“I thought I was imagining you.”
    “Hmm?” I hum.
“You looked like an angel in the auditorium,” Luke smiles softly.
I smile as I soak in the sweet words. Normally, I would blow off any guy that would say something like that. But hearing the words from his mouth, with the brevity that’s in his tone, I know that he truly means what he says.
“You surprised me when you noticed me,” I mutter, unable to come up with anything remotely as poetic as his words of recognition.
“Tasha,” Luke whispers, slowly sitting up, but his eyes never straying from mine, “I’ve missed you.”
The words hurt, but not in a negative way towards him. They hurt because I know he really means it. Everything hurts because I know that I’ve put him through pain, pain that he probably didn’t fully deserve, and pain that I wasn’t feeling myself to the level that he was. Tears burn the corners of my eyes, threatening to reveal my thoughts and feelings. I screw my eyes shut, trying my best to hold onto what little composure that remains within.
    “I missed you, too.”

Chapter 4

With Luke’s head nestled in my lap, I take a moment to examine his injuries more closely. Both of his eyes are swollen, along with a massive bruise along his cheekbone. The rookie fighter Lancaster, managed to beat up my handsome man almost to a pulp. He looks horrible, but he still looks like my Luke.
“Are you okay?” I whisper, trying to hold back tears.
A soft smile curves along Luke’s square jaw line, “I am now that you’re here.”
    “Cheesy,” I giggle.
“I’m good at cheesy,” Luke smirks, “And I wanted to hear you laugh.”
“That’s even cheesier,” I smile down at him, brushing my hand through his thick, copper mane.
Luke raises up his hand, gentle fingers touch my cheek. I freeze, unable to say or do anything. Tears threaten to escape the corners of my eyes as I stare at him.
“I’m so sorry, Tasha,” he whispers.
    “I’m so…”
“Ma’am,” a voice from behind me interrupts mine and Luke’s conversation, “I need to ask you to leave.”
I turn to face the voice, being immediately greeted by a massive man with olive complexion, even bigger than Big Mike. His hulking size catches me by surprise and I try to quickly utter something to appease the impatient glare he’s boring into me.
“She’s my girlfriend Stavros. She stays,” Luke states before I can respond to the large man.
    There’s that ‘girlfriend’ word again.
It’s ridiculous how giddy I feel over his words, but I can’t help it. Stavros glares at both Luke and I for a few moments, then, with a sigh, shakes his head.
“Fine, but you need to have a full eval from the med team before you can leave, Richards. And I expect it to be done promptly,” the man says, wagging a sausage sized finger at Luke.
“Will do,” Luke flashes a broad grin, already he’s beginning to look like his normal self.
I watch the man as he walks away, my sidetracked mind silently trying to guess just how many cheeseburgers a man like him could put away. When I turn to face Luke, I’m completely caught off guard.
Hot lips land on mine, making my body practically melt. The copper flavor of blood invades my mouth, but Luke’s sweet flavor counters the taste. My vagina throbs as I return his kiss. This feeling, the feeling that his touch gives me on every part of my body, is the feeling that I have missed almost as much as I’ve missed Luke himself. Luke pulls away. I pout, already missing the sensation his lips give me.
“I’m so sorry, Tasha, for everything. I should have told you the…”
I place my index finger on his lips. This isn’t the place for this kind of discussion. Considering the sexy man in front of me is driving my body insane right now,
