but her conviction was weak, and he stood firm. Instead, she found herself grabbing a handful of his shirt, and almost tugging at it. Her heart was now pounding hard in her chest. She was getting hot, her breaths shorter, panting almost. She was now afraid not only of what he could do to her if he so wished, after all he was strong looking guy and they were alone, but of what she would let him do to her, what she wanted him to do to her.
Tommy brought his hand around to the back of her neck. His fingers slipped into the downy underside of her hair. Marianne's reacted was instant and involuntary, allowing her head to fall back and embrace his touch. His hand cradling her head like that of a baby. She closed her eyes. Her soft lips fell apart and took a sharp intake of breath.
Suddenly she came to her senses and broke away from Tommy's spell. This was her best friends younger brother; she wasn't sure how Sarah would react to such circumstances.
The moment had been so brief that neither of them could be sure it had even happen at all.
Eyeing the gap between him and the door, Marianne spoke. “Excuse me,” she said. Gently pushing him to the side, she slipped past and into the hallway. Tommy was not far behind.
“ Marianne,” he called after her. His voice now with a sense of urgency.
“ Please Tommy,” she replied, without stopping or turning to look back at him. “I'm not sure this is such a good idea.”
    “ What's wrong?” he said.
Before she could make it to the front door, Tommy had taken her by the wrist and spun her around to face him. This time he pulled her close. His other hand was on the small of her back, pressing her body hard against his own. She could feel his chest heaving heavily in and out, almost crushing her tiny frame as it did.
“ Nothing's wrong Tommy. That's the problem. If I stay here any longer I'm not sure what might happen. I don't trust myself. You're such a lovely guy, but I come with a lot of baggage. You're still young. I couldn't burden you with that. Plus, you're my best friends little brother.”
“ Look Marianne, I'm a big boy now. I can make my own decisions, I make them every day. And if you are worried about what Sarah might say, I think we both know that she would be anything but upset to find out that we were...” he paused for a moment, struggling for the right words, “...more than just friends.”
Marianne knew it was true. Sarah was a kind person who would only want happiness for the people closest to her.
“ The only thing holding you back from happiness, Marianne, is yourself. Why won't you allow yourself to be happy? Good things in life don't happen unless you let them,” Tommy said.
“ It's just that it's been a long time for me. Maybe I've forgotten what happiness feels like,” she said.
Tommy brought his mouth close to her ear and whispered, “I want you Marianne. I want to make you happy.” Gently he allowed his lips to caress her soft lobes. “I've always wanted you, but you have to open up. You have to let me in.”
Marianne was trembling with excitement. She loved being held firmly in his arms. The more she struggled, the more his great strength sent pangs of electricity through every fibre of her body. She felt like a small bird flailing in the jaws of a great panther.
“ You'll hurt me. Just like he did,” she burst out.
“ I would never hurt you,” he replied. “I couldn't.”
Kissing down the side of her neck until his face was nestled firmly into her shoulder and collar bone. Her scent consumed his senses and filled his mind with a dizzy haze of desire.
Marianne made one last attempt to resist his advances, but it was futile. She could deny herself no longer. Tommy whisked her up into the air and pinned her agains the wall, her feet barely touching the floor. He held her there and kissed her deeply on the mouth. His right hand was now tucked firmly in the crease of her backside. His palm and thumb clenching a good portion of her
