we market to females, it makes sense to have you there.”
Diana nodded. “I have gotten more calls than usual from them lately.” From Marc, she meant. Every day in the past two weeks, in fact—although she’d thought some of them might be fabricated just because he wanted to talk to her. “But still, why me?”
“They’ve been interviewing, unsuccessfully, for the position since Kelly left. As of right now, they need help putting the fall catalog to bed. They’re a week late already. Adrianna tells me the guys on the team are great at what they do, but they really need a woman in the mix, to bounce ideas off of, to steer them in a direction that’s feminine and sexy.”
Diana shook her head. “That still doesn’t answer my question. Why me?”
Richard tilted his head and smiled. “It’s a compliment. She’s seen your marketing skills pull our East Coast advertising together, making it strong, cohesive, and effective. She’s also seen what you do in the boutiques to make sure they’re each unique while at the same time unmistakably Adrianna’s. You know district sales have risen since you arrived, and Adrianna thinks you’re part of the reason why. She sees you as a woman who’s smart, savvy, and knows what appeals to other women.”
A rush of fulfillment washed through Diana’s body. Adrianna had noticed her work. Before this moment, Diana had never even imagined she was on Adrianna’s radar screen. She didn’t try to hide her smile. “That’s extremely satisfying to hear.”
Richard returned the grin. “I thought you’d think so. So…you won’t be too angry with me when I tell you she’d like you out there ASAP? As in flying out tomorrow and starting work with the catalog team the next day?”
Diana took a deep breath. Richard, of course, had no way of knowing the ramifications of this request. He had no idea she’d been flirting with a member of the catalog team for months, or that they’d recently had dirty phone sex. He also had no idea that her cunt was throbbing now, at the very idea of meeting Marc, of having a chance to…
A tremor of pure longing echoed through her body, and she only hoped Richard hadn’t seen it. Damn it, she couldn’t think about what might happen between her and Marc right now; she had to answer her boss.
“No, Richard,” she said with an indulgent smile, “I won’t be mad at you. So long as you take responsibility for anything important on my desk that I can’t deal with by day’s end, you can tell Adrianna I’ll be at the office first thing Wednesday morning.”
“No problem, just e-mail me with a list of issues and I’ll deal with them,” he replied, clearly pleased she hadn’t put up a fuss. “Eileen will have a travel itinerary to you by five.”
Diana got to her feet, her mind and body humming with the suddenness of this new plan and all it might entail. As she made her way to the door, Richard stopped her. “Diana.”
She turned to find him leaning back in his chair, twirling a pencil absently between his fingers and wearing an almost mischievous grin. “What?” she asked.
“I hope you won’t think this is out of line, but…that suit does very fine things for you.”
“Thank you,” she said as a naughty little thrill zipped through her—turned out Shyla was right, at least about Richard enjoying the view of her boobs she’d unwittingly provided. It was gratifying to know she could get to even a conservative guy like her boss.
As she made her way back down the hall, though, she also had to wonder again if Shyla was right about her still being naughty, no matter how she tried to change. Well, one thing was for sure. She’d likely find out on her little trip to Las Vegas. If any place on earth could make her misbehave, it was probably Sin City.

Marc sat at the table in the conference room, gaping at the screen of his laptop. Then he felt a dirty little smile edge its way onto his face. He read the e-mail
