of bubble wrap and lifted the black tiny dress with spaghetti straps.
    ‘Oh that is gorgeous.’
She put it down and lifted the note that was with it.
See you tomorrow , I will wine and dine you at the finest restaurant.
She threw the car d aside only for Ava to pick it up.
‘I wish I was you right now.’
‘No you don’t my life’s miserable.’
‘My god Celine, you’re so ungrateful! You have everything. Nice shoes, nice clothes and healthy bank account, never mind that three million pound picture in your room. I mean you have everything a girl could ever want.’
    ‘Except love.’
‘Oh love, you love him.’ She came to h er rescue. ‘But you can do without it, look at everything else.’
‘I would give all this away just to have his love.’
    ‘Really?’
    ‘Yes really.’
‘We have all the time in the world to be in love. Why can’t you just enjoy it! Enjoy it all. Don’t ruin it by hoping for something he’ll never give you.’
‘Thanks for making me feel better.’ She put the dress aside.
‘I’m sorry. I guess I’m just being insensitive. Tell me what’s going on, how you really feel.’
She looked at her friend unsure whether or not she wanted to tell her.
    ‘It’s okay, I’m listening.’
‘I love him Ava. You know the last time we were together he had this look in his eye s. It was as if he loved me too.’
‘Wow, you really do like him.’
‘I do and I don’t know how to tell him. Should I tell him?’
‘I don’t know. If it were me I wouldn’t tell him.’
    ‘Why?’
‘Because of the terms of the relationship. It isn’t about feelings.’
‘I feel as though I’m about to explode. At times I feel like pulling my hair out.’
‘Oh sweetie, I’m sorry. I really can’t offer you anything more. I don’t know what to say.
They were silent for a while. There was another knock at the door.
    ‘Your turn.’
    ‘It could be another parcel.’
‘Well then you can sign for it.’
    The knock came again.
‘I’m coming, hang on!’ Ava called.
She walked back in with Harvey.
    ‘Hey,’ he said to Celine.
    ‘Hi Harvey.’
They hadn’t spoken since their last ordeal. She’d managed to avoid him as much as she could, but it looked like that time was over.
    ‘What you watching?’ he asked.
Celine shrugged, he r mind elsewhere.
‘Nothing really, just scrolling through the channels. How’s things with you?’
‘Great. Haven’t seen you around lately Celine, how are things?’
‘Fine.’ She put away the dress.
‘Going somewhere?’ he nodded at the dress.
    ‘No.’
    ‘Then what’s that then?’
‘It’s a dress.’ She refused to enter into conversation with him, it only led to fights.
‘Is it from that Rhyland guy?’
    ‘Don’t start.’ Celine warned.
‘I’m not starting anything, I’m just asking.’
‘I don’t want to talk about it.’
‘Perhaps you’ll want to talk about your killer boyfriend.’ He wasn’t about to back down.
‘What’s wrong with you?’ Ava asked.
‘It’s true ever since you told me the story about him taking care of his father I did some digging.’
‘Ava? You told him!’ She was livid. ‘Is that what you do, everything I tell you, you tell him.’
‘Hey, I’m looking out for you.’
‘Really, because it doesn’t feel like it.’
‘It turns out Rhyland Chambers killed his father. It was said it was self defence but the way he treats Celine I hardly believe it.’
‘Do you think any of this is going to make me like you more?’ she heaved.
‘I’m only making sure you’re not in any danger.’
‘I don’t need you to look out for me! How dare you pry into my life!’
‘It’s not your life it’s his.’
‘You know what, do as much investigating as you want! I don’t care! Nothing you do will ever make me like you more!’ she picked up the dress and was about to leave.
‘Celine you hurt me. The least you could’ve done was apologise,’ he said.
    ‘What happened between
