you have your resume and everything ready to go?”
“Yes, it is in the attaché that you gave me for the holiday.” She smiled while they pulled up in front of the house.
“I told you that would come in handy.” He answered as he put the truck in park.
“Yes you did.” She nodded as she stepped out of the truck with her outfit. There was nothing left to do except double check on everything for the interview tomorrow. As the night came and went, Lucy did not sleep well. Taking a shower, she went over the possible interview questions that would come to her from Victor. Brian had drilled her for the last week on questions out of the blue and questions that she never had even thought that would be asked.
Taking her time, to make sure everything was in place from her auburn hair to the shoes she wore. As she went down stairs, she saw Brian at the kitchen table. He looked at her and nodded. She looked very good, if that would get her the job alone, she would have it. He knew she was going to have to answer the questions that were thrown at her and he knew Victor could be a handful when it came to questions. Before his internet business took off, he was pre-law. So Brian knew his mind thought quickly.
“What do you know about Victor’s company?” Brian finally asked. He knew Lucy had not done her homework, or at least he was sure of it.
“V-corps makes internal parts for graphic designers.” She answered. “They employ over 1,000 people in the city alone. It went on the stock market back in December of last year and was named one of the top companies to work for in the States. Victor is the CEO and goes to every meeting. He travels from the States to Hong Kong frequently and his philanthropy reaches inner city kids.” Brian took a deep breath.
“Okay, wow.” He readjusted himself in his chair. “Was not expecting that.”
“So after the outfit nightmare yesterday, I wanted to have the answers of something about the company.” She answered as she grabbed a banana. “Can I take the Benz?”
“No, I will take you.” Brian shook his head. “I have business downtown anyway. Let’s go, we are going to be late.”
Her heels clacked on the wood floor as she made sure to grab everything for the interview. She ran through questions in her head. She checked and double checked everything in the car to make sure that she had everything. Satisfied she finally sat back until they got in front of V-Corps.
“One last thing sis.” Brian started. “Victor can be a bit overwhelming.”
“Overwhelming?” She stopped and looked at Brian, she could not believe he was just now mentioning this.
“I didn’t want to worry you.” He answered, he knew how she reacted and thought everything out. “You will see, just stand your ground.”
“Oh, okay, thanks Brian.” She got out of the truck and headed up the steps for her meeting with Victor. Taking a deep breath, she introduced herself to the secretary who let Victor know she was there. Lucy sat down and waited. An attractive lady came out and called for her.
“Miss Hall, Mr. Pulse will see you now.” She stated clearly and started to walk through the double glass doors. Lucy was glad she chose the suit she was wearing, it made her feel secure. She pushed a lock of hair behind her ear and walked into an impressive office where Victor was sitting behind an oak desk. He was on the phone and pointed to the seat across from him. Lucy looked at him. He had strong features and wore a grey suit with a red tie. Lucy got out her resume and held it in her hand waiting to be able to speak to him.
Introduction
“Well get it done.” His voice boomed out. “We need those graphic cards to make this work.” He put the phone in its cradle. Lucy was surprised he used an older phone and it was not cordless. She did not question. “Miss Hall.” He said without looking up.
“Yes, Mr. Pulse.” She answered, holding her resume in her hand, crossing her legs at the
