finally wearing thin. I had done it again. Holy fuck . I had slept with my professor again.
But as I looked around, with Chase’s satisfied grin filling my vision in the midst of his huge house, I wondered if everything that had just happened had been worth it.
    * * * *
As I snuck into the apartment, trying to be quiet, Alyssa flipped on a light instantly. “That must have been some interview,” she mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
She had curled up on the edge of the broken-in brown leather sofa. A half-full beer bottle and her notes from class laid scattered around the room.
“Late night studying?” I asked, giving her a grin, trying to act normal.
“Yeah,” Alyssa groaned, reaching over to grab her beer. “I had to rest my eyes for a few minutes. So, what happened? Did you get the job?”
“Well...” I searched for the right words as I pressed my lips together and ran my fingers through my hair. I could feel how much of a tangled mess it had become and remembered the feeling of Chase running his fingers through it as we kissed. I couldn’t tell Alyssa what had happened—at least, not yet. “...Good, I guess. I won’t know about the job until next class period.”
“Good? How’s your mentor? Tough? Bossy? Good looking?” Alyssa smiled as she prodded for answers and took another swig of her beer. “You know I’m going to live this internship through you since I can’t do it myself.”
I smiled tiredly back, taking off my heels and letting my portfolio and bag drop to the ground. “He’s good...” I bit my tongue. Too good . “I mean, it’s going to be tough. It’s Ch...Professor Kerns.”
I wasn’t sure if I should make a big deal about having him as my mentor or just play it off. I wasn’t good at lying and I was sure Alyssa could tell.
“Holy shit, Sums! Didn’t you luck out?! So how was it? Is his house enormous? Did he give you a tour and show you his bedroom?” Alyssa shot me a sly smile. “Come on, tell me.”
“Huge ass house, more like a building—he was...nice.”
I thought about his statement that he craved me, that he was used to getting what he wanted. Was I just a conquest to him? All the doubts in my mind had returned, full force. But was I really being taken advantage of when I wanted him, too? Or the money, the house, the sex, Chase himself—had they all just seduced me? I was too tired to understand it.
“Yeah, he was nice,” I decided to say. “Different than he is in class for sure.”
Despite my doubts, I still held back my smile as I remembered the evening. One of the most powerful businesspeople in the area had just made love to me on his kitchen counter. No, you just had sex , my mind contradicted. As usual I had to tell my mind to shut up.
“What did you talk about? Was his interview hard?”
“We just talked about me. He gave me some information about his company.” I attempted to be as vague as possible without sounding like I was avoiding her questions. “Let’s talk about it tomorrow. I’m mentally exhausted and I just want to crash.”
Alyssa still kept her devilish smile as she nodded, allowing me to escape her interrogation, but I knew I had better come up with a better story for her—and for myself. I made my way to my bedroom and collapsed, thinking about Chase and everything that had just happened.
I closed my eyes and drifted away, still smelling him on my skin.

Chase
My mind shouldn’t have been focused on the things it was, but I couldn’t help it. Her eyes. Her hair. Her smile. They way she smelled. Hell, the way she tasted. I stared off into a daze as I replayed the evening in my mind. Thinking about her made me horny as hell, honestly.
On the other hand, having her in class made me nervous, a strange sensation to me, as a person who rarely got rattled about anything. I didn’t really care what other people thought, but at the same time risking my reputation was hardly something that I was jumping at the chance to do. And, of
