hasn’t really talked to me, let alone

looked at me. I was heartbroken of course, I sat on the couch watching

TV with my mom eating ice cream out of the carton we were having

our girl on girl time, while both of the boys were out. We watched our

favorite Movie, The Wizard of Oz.

Mom looked at me, with a light smile.

“ So sweetie, who broke your heart,” I stopped looking at mom,

    Hesitated to speak.

“ What do you mean?” I ask. Hoping she didn’t find out about me and

    Michael.

    “ N o one,” I say soon after. I smile. “Promise,”

“ Girls only eat ice cream from a carton if someone broke their heart, or

if their pregnant,” She Squinted her eyes, looking at me at concern.

    “ I promise, I’m not pregnant nor did I have a boyfriend you didn’t
know about,” I say. She kissed my forehead.

“ If you were pregnant though, I would be a little disappointed, but

    happy,”

“ You would?” I questioned her. Surprised to hear that. She had always

told me if I got pregnant at a young age she would want me to give the

    baby up for adoption.

“ What about the whole adoption thing you told me when I was

    younger?”

“ That was just to scare you into not getting pregnant,” Mom chuckled

Lightly. “Of course I want to be a grandma,”

I smile lightly. Of course she would.

Michael came into the house slamming the door shut. His forehead

was creased, and his eyes were full of anger. Mother and I both looked

    at him.

“ Michael what’s wrong?” Mother asked. Getting up from the couch and

    Going to him.

“ Ella broke up with me, that’s all,” He said. Looking at my mom with

    Sincere eyes.

“ I’m so sorry baby,” Mother said. “Is there anything I can do to help?”

“ No thanks Loretta, I’m just going to go in my room,”

Michael headed up the stairs glancing at me from the corner of his eye,

then reached his room and shut his door.

It had been a few hours since Michael had been home, and everything

was quiet in the house. Mom and Gary were in their room taking a

“ Nap” together. I knocked on Michael's door once, and then walked in,

just like he did with me, except the knocking part . “ What do you

    want?”

“ Just making sure you’re okay,” I say. He was laying on his back,

bouncing his basketball up at the ceiling and catching it.

“ I’m fine,” He says harshly.

    I don’t leave.

“ How did she break up with you?” I pressed on. Knowing it was going

to be a personal subject, but I wanted to know.

“ Why do you care?” He asked. As the ball had hit the ceiling.

Oh gee, I don’t know because maybe I actually care about you?

I rolled my eyes. “You’re really asking that question,”

He caught the ball again, and then looked at me. He sighed a

    frustrated sigh.

“ Sorry,” He said. Just really frustrated

“ So I see,” I Try and joke a little, but it wasn't helping, he sat up from

his bed as his feet his feet had hit the ground.

“ Are we ever going to talk about what happened between us?”  He

didn’t look at me. But he got up setting the ball on his bed. He then

pulled me close and kissed my lips fiercely.

I was now the rebound, did I really want to be,

    Yes….

    Chapter Twelve
I stopped him after a few minutes and looked at him.

“ Our parents are home,” I reminded him. He ran his hands through

his hair, and turned his back towards me.
“Right,” He said. He sat back down on his bed and I could see the

    anger raging through him.

    I weakly smile.

“ So what happened?” I kept pressing on, hoping I would be able to

make him at least feel better about the break up after he had talked

    about it.

“ She cheated on me,” He
