in one long-term relationship. Even then, it only lasted two years. Yes, at the age of thirty, I had been mostly single my whole life. It was depressing.
The flat was tidy at least. I had made an effort earlier in the day before my episode in the changing room. My intuition obviously realised that I would bring someone home. Although, I would never have believed it would be Nathan. Maybe my inkling had been about Lizzie. She usually came round after we’d gone for a drink at the pub.
“This is a nice little place,” Nathan said, following me into the kitchen.
I switched the kettle on, trying hard to ignore my shaking fingers. Small talk. My favourite. Leaning against the counter, I waited for the water to boil. Being the perfect host, I had offered a hot drink. Which was something I now regretted. It would have been better to get on with it. Less awkward.
Nathan stood by the door, his arms crossed over his chest. I moved my hands to grasp either side of the worktop to stop them from shaking. I didn’t want him to see how nervous I was.
    “I do like it here.”
Nathan smiled gently as he stepped forward. I sucked in a breath as he came towards me. Uncrossing his arms, he placed them on the cupboard doors either side of my head. His hard body was flush against mine, pushing me into the worktop. My hands went to his waist. I pushed my fingers under his shirt and gasped, yes audibly, when they ran over the ridge of muscle over his hips. The V shape made my whole body melt. I had never experienced real-life V muscles. How could I compete with all my wobbly bits?
“You were fun today,” he whispered.
My head dropped forward, landing on his rock solid chest. His scent filtered up my nose and wound into the very core of me. One of his hands moved to the back of my neck. He rested his fingers lightly near my ear, stroking the skin behind it.
“Why did you have to bring that up?” I muttered.
He chuckled. The movement made my head bounce against him. His soft fingertips sent shivers down my spine as his knuckles grazed the back of my ear. They had always been a turn on spot for me.
“It wasn’t as bad as you think. It was just slightly…unusual.”
I smiled as the rumble of his voice calmed my nerves. “I can’t believe you saw all my squashy bits squashed up.”
His fingers tightened in my hair. I gasped as he brought my head up by pulling gently on my hair so I faced him. The hint of rough treatment made me run my tongue across my bottom lip. I liked it. I liked it a lot.
“Don’t talk like that. You’ve got a great figure. I don’t like hearing women speak that way about themselves.” He dipped lower and caught my bottom lip in his teeth.
Clever young man, he knew how to get me around to his thinking.
As he released my lip, he stretched out his tongue but didn’t make contact to the place he had just bitten. He was waiting for me. My tongue slunk out of my mouth to meet his. When they met, my whole body vibrated as he pressed even further into me. He swirled his tongue around mine, gently at first. The pressure built as he grabbed one of my hands, entwined our fingers, and held it against the cupboard above my head. My other hand was buried under his shirt, my nails digging into the muscles of his back.
“I like an older woman,” he breathed, before plunging his tongue straight back into my mouth.
My mind could no longer think. My body had taken over. There was no way he was leaving without finishing what he had started. Even though I didn’t know him, I didn’t care. He made me feel good.
His hands squeezed the fleshy part of my waist as I pulled away.
“Well, I have a new interest in younger men.” I giggled.
Nathan’s eyebrows rose as he tugged on my arm. He walked backwards, almost dragging me with him. We were about to exit the kitchen. I was convinced we were on our way to my bedroom, but he stopped. Closing the door, he spun us and pushed my back against it. Grasping my hands, he
