life got sexier and more interesting the longer they were together.
Slick with sweat, he noticed rose petals sticking to their skin and chuckled, plucking one from Emma’s shoulder.
“I like your idea of wild romanticism,” he said, brushing a soft kiss on her lips.
“And I like your idea of blind surprises,” she answered.
“I’m a little bummed that we’re out of fantasies to draw out of the bowls,” he sighed. He would miss the anticipation of wondering what adventures awaited him when he returned home.
“I’m sure we can come up with a few more to fill the bowls back up.” Emma winked, a wicked little smile tilting the corners of her mouth. “In fact, there’s a new one in yours already.”
Puzzled, Jake twisted his head in the direction of their dresser. He grinned when he saw the paper in his bowl. His wife was a sneaky woman.
“And just how did that get in there?”
Emma shrugged, eyes wide with an expression of feigned innocence. “I guess you better go check it out.”
Laughing, Jake slid his cock from her body, already missing the warmth of her intimate embrace. He walked to the dresser and picked the paper out of the bowl, and returned to the bed to find Emma sitting up, picking rose petals off her skin.
“Had one more fantasy, did you?” he teased, holding the paper between them, unopened.
“More like a wish,” she said. “Read it.”
Unfolding the paper, Jake ran through the many possibilities, enjoying imagining what fantasy Emma might’ve snuck into the bowl.
But then he read the words.
    And was stunned speechless.
You’re going to be a father.
Joy and excitement and terror and wonder blasted through his system at the realization of what she’d written.
    They were having a baby.
Even in his shell-shocked state, he knew his reaction and his next words were perhaps the most important of his life.
“We’re having a baby?” He phrased it as a question, but the tone of voice sounded more like an exclamation. So he said it again, with a bit more emphasis. “We’re having a baby!”
He lunged at her, gathering her in his arms and pressing kisses all over her face, praying his actions might express a fraction of the happiness filling his soul.
“I take it you’re happy,” Emma said, laughing as his mouth found hers.
“Ecstatic.” And it was the truth. He’d never felt anything close to the elation he felt at this moment. “Our love made a whole new person.”
Emma smiled, and threw her arms around his neck. Hugging him tight, she said, “It’s the most perfect expression of our love.”
“I agree,” he said, pulling back to look in her eyes. He pressed his forehead to hers, and added. “Perfect.”
