life and given him a chance to make shit right, and he planned to do just that. First on his agenda was Kendra.
He could no longer make excuses as to why he’d gone with her that night. Excuses like he’d had too much to drink, or that he felt rejected and needed someone to make him feel good about himself. The simple truth was he’d been horny and his dick hard. He also didn’t have an excuse as to why he hadn’t once bothered to pick up the damn phone to call her during the last four weeks. No matter what excuses he made, it didn’t make a damn bit of difference. They simply didn’t change the fact that he was trying to run away from his problems. Again.
Jay swore as he slammed his hand down on the steering wheel. A beauty pageant’s worth of women had shared his bed over the years. He loved sex and considered himself a master of the art, but he’d always been careful. Never desiring marriage or children, he couldn’t afford to be careless. Yet somehow he’d managedto have unprotected sex and was now faced with the consequences. Jay just couldn’t understand it. What he did know was that it was time to quit running and do the right thing. As much as Kendra wanted him to marry her, he couldn’t. Not as long as he loved someoneelse. The free-spirited playboy he once was had somehow vanished.
Women had come and gone in Jay’s life because he preferred it that way. He grew bored easily, and most of the women he met were interested in commitment, something he definitely wasn’t looking for. That is, until he met Honey. His sister-in-law’s best friend, Honey often found herself in the same circles with him. She had practically knocked the fuckin’ air out of his lungs with her beauty, and her sultry voice kept his dick brick-hard. They’d become instant friends; in a matter of weeks they had developed the habit of spending eveningstogether, watching old reruns on Nick at Nite , playing Scrabble, or just sharing and listening to each other’s dreams. What started out as simple friendship had eventually developed into something stronger, and so powerful that Jay had found it difficult to continue thinking of Honey as just a friend. Friendship was suddenlyno longer enough. Honey stirred his deepest, darkestpassions. Soon she was all he could think about, and Jay found himself frantically racing to her every evening, longing to be close to the sweet fragrance of her lovely beige skin, near the radiance of her irresistible smile, and within inches of her luminous gray eyes. For the first time in his life, Jay didn’t want to fuck. He wanted to make love.
Jay stared ahead at the clear sky and remembered their time together, just as he’d done during the past several months. Honey had managed to get to his black ass in a way no other female had. The more time they spent in each other’s company, the harder it became to resist. Somewhere along the way, Jay had realized that life as a ladies’ man no longer interested him. Single life had suddenly become lonely, and for the first time he considered the possibility of spending the rest of his life with one woman.
Jay frowned as he remembered that final night. He had thought he read mutual desire in her eyes, and becauseof it, had taken a chance. As a result, he’d jeopardizedeverything they had worked so hard to gain.
He had appeared on her doorstep that evening, uncertainof what he was going to say but knowing he had no desire to be anywhere else. Still embedded in his mind was the clinging negligee she’d worn when she greeted him at the door, a chocolate nipple peeking out of the corner. Unable to resist any further, he’d pulled her into his arms, where her body had melted against his. They had shared an intimate encounter, on the verge of making love, before everything came to an abrupt halt.
Honey’s eyes flew open as she scrambled upright on the couch and pushed him
