was introduced to him.
“Your name Sir?” she asked.
“Royce Bellamy,” he answered and bowed.
“A knight?” she questioned him further her voice low and condescending.
“Sir…Royce…Bellamy?” he answered through slightly clenched teeth. He watched the king put his hand over hers.
“My dear, all my men are knights and this man is part of my personal guard.”
“I see, then you have a great deal of trust in this man,” she said lightly grabbing the King’s hand.
Royce watched and it angered him to see such beauty go to waste. Louis VII was a wasteful man and king. The man lived in a fantasy world. Leaving France to go on a wild goose chase proved that to Royce. He decided that he’d take the lovely Lucinda to his bed. She’d forget the king after one night with him. If she was indeed a sorceress, he could reveal his true self to her. Depending on her level of magic and skills, he’d know if she was an ally or foe. He’d have to kill her if she disapproved of vampires.
He captured her attention and he held her eyes with his. He’d begin his seduction now because he wanted her in his bed tonight. Their eyes met and he stared. She looked away. He was puzzled if he truly tranced her, she wouldn’t be able to take her eyes off him. So, the witch was a strong one. He became excited. He was up for a good challenge.
Royce’s exceptional hearing heard her whisper to Louis, “Are you finished with court of my liege?”
“Yes my Lady. Would you have supper with me tonight?” he asked, and then addressed Royce. “My Lord Bellamy would you join us?”
He bowed, “Of course, my Lord I’d love to join you and the Lady Lucinda.”
Louis rose and took Lucinda’s hand leading her off the dais. She turned and looked back at him wearing a small sexy smirk. He shook his head. The games had begun. He smiled back and gave her one small quick nod of his head, her smile turned to a frown and she snapped her head back around. He held back a low bellow. The witch had a temper. Oh, yes this was going to be fun.

Dinner consisted of boiled vegetables, roasted and dried meats. Their journey had just begun, he was sure the supplies would be depleted quickly. These humans were unprepared for what lay ahead. He had no problem there was always plenty of blood.
He ate sparingly because he could, and kept a close eye on the few people the king had invited to share his supper. He was careful and had given his word to Louis VII that he’d protect him with his life. He also kept an eye of Lucinda. He actually couldn’t keep his eyes off her. Every morsel of food she put into her mouth he watched. Every swipe of her tongue he took in. Every movement she made aroused him. He wanted her so badly he could taste her. Finally, supper was over and the small talk began. He came to sit next to her and again tried to trance her.
“I see you are impervious to my charms,” he said softly into her ear.
“Yes, vampire, I am,” she answered him.
“I commend you. You’re very astute.” He smiled broadly.
“I’m a witch, we know these things,” she bantered back.
“You can sense I’m a vampire?”
“I can smell you. You give off a sickly sweet smell, for a witch it’s not unpleasant.”
No one noticed their conversation and he was responsible for their lack of interest, he’d tranced all in the room. “Sickly sweet, that’s interesting.”
“It is Royce, very interesting almost as interesting as having a vampire on this crusade.”
“Just as interesting as having a witch,” he answered her.
“Touché,” she said pushing an elbow into his chest.
“Was that supposed to hurt Lucinda?”
She looked at him and gave him a dazzling smile. There was no denying her beauty or figure. She was utter perfection.
“Let’s not play vampire. You want me in your bed and I’ll not fight you on that. Vampires are amazing lovers. You can lift your trance from this group Royce. They’re quite simple
