ask this in front of Morgan. On cue, she jumped in her father’s arms. “Yes, daddy! Please. I missed you so much.”
How could she say no and break her daughter ’s heart?
“Can we mommy?” Morgan begged.
Olivia let out a long winded breath. “Can you handle Emily by yourself? You haven’t been too hands on with her.”
“Of course I can. She’s my daughter.”
She didn’t li ke this, not one bit. If she had her say, he would never get them. But the girls needed their father, even if he wasn’t someone she liked.
“Morgan, can you keep an eye on your baby sister ? I want to have adult talk with your mommy. We will be right outside if you need us, okay?” Eric put on that sweet daddy voice. It made her sick.
“Okay , daddy!”
She glanced down seeing her PJ’s. The perfect excuse to stall this and give her a chance to compose herself. “I need to change. I’ll meet you out there.”
Hating herself as she dressed, she put on a form fitting pair of jeans and a v-cut tee. Her cleavage was showing and while she didn’t want him, she did want him to see what he was missing. It was completely stupid, but it made her feel better to look attractive and let him know he couldn’t have her.
Ol ivia gave both the girls a kiss and went outside to meet him on the porch. She took a seat in the white rocking chair. Eric leaned against the railing.
“What did you need to discuss that couldn’t have been talked about over the phone?” she asked.
“Who was here last night? Rick next door said he saw a man leaving here last night after dark.”
Oh— this man was a pain in the ass! “Excuse me, what business is this to you?”
“You can’t be bring ing men around here with the girls here.” His tone was condescending.
“You can’t tell me who I can bring around here. You left me for someone else.”
“So, there was someone here then.” A smirk crossed his face. “You were always easy.”
Her mouth dropped open again. Who was he to say anything about her being easy when he was the one who left her?
“ For your information, the man that was here last night. Excuse me, the hot man that was here, well he’s the sitter. The man who will be helping me take care of the kids while I work.”
“You hired a male babysitter?” he snapped.
“Yes, and he’s great with the girls.”
“I bet he is. Well, I’m not paying for a male babysitter. Fire him,” Eric demanded.
“What !” Was he kidding? He’d left her and he was that concerned about another man?
“You heard me. Fire him. I don’t want some man around my kids all day. The only man that needs to be in their lives is me.”
“You aren’t in their lives.” She reminded him.
“ I’ve been a little MIA, but that was just to give you time to get over me. I plan to be here now.”
Had he really just said that? As much as she wanted to argue with him, she wanted him off this property even more. “We’ll see.” Olivia crossed her arms.
“There is nothing to see. I will be. I ’ll be here tomorrow just after lunch, I will get the girls and I will have them back sometime on Sunday.” He glared at her with a warning to not disagree.
“You don’t get to make al l the decisions. I get a say so,” she yelled.
“If you want your precious money for groceries, then I guess you will do as I say.”
Fuck him! “I’m not going to be bullied by you. You can take Morgan for the weekend, but not Emily. She is too little to be away from me that long.”
“She’ ll be fine.”
Her eyes ached and she knew what w as coming. The tears. And he would be so satisfied to see her cry. To know he had gotten to her. As much as she tried to will the tears away, she couldn’t. He was a heartless bastard and she wasn’t sure what she had ever seen in him.
“I’m sorry,” he said softly. “I didn’t mean for this to get so heated.”
“How could you not? You accuse me of being easy and you tell me what I have to do in order to get
