Imagine that, pumped full of sperm until you're overflowing with the stuff! And your mouth! Oh yes, that will be engorged with sperm until you choke!' Fowler promised.
'Your bottom's nice and tight,' Swain added as she slipped her finger out. 'Not for long, though!'
Emily flinched as the door closed and the bolt locked loudly. She knew as she pulled on the ropes and looked around the room that Fowler and Swain meant all that they had said. She had to escape. Only a small skylight let in a little sunlight. It was too high and probably too small to climb through, even if she could free herself. Her fate sealed, she pressed her face to the tabletop and cried. Her role in the EFW, it seemed, was over.
Chapter Two
'I've done it! I've fucking well done it!' Diana screeched as she climbed down the ladder into the underground hideout. 'The whole bloody thing went sky high! You should have seen it, Hannah! Boom! Bricks flying everywhere, the aerial mast crumpled into a heap of scrap metal, fire and smoke billowing into the sky! You should have bloody well seen it!'
'Well done. That's good news. And I've some more good news for you.'
'Emily?' Diana asked cautiously.
'No. No, I'm afraid not. But one of the transmitting sites north of London has been destroyed by another group. Evans the Great has great problems, I think you'll agree? But we mustn't stop, we must keep the pressure on all the time. Mary, that national grid transformer, can you do it?'
'You bet! I was ready to blow the thing up this morning but you went and called me back.'
'I had to. Emily... Well, Emily would want us to continue the fight. She wouldn't want her... her disappearance to count for nothing.'
'I'll do it now,' Mary volunteered excitedly. 'I'll blow that damn thing to smithereens! I'll do it for Emily!'
Taking Jo aside, Hannah suggested they eliminate Diana as a suspect. 'She did a bloody good job, and I think Mary's all right, so that just leaves...'
'That just leaves fifteen others by my reckoning. There's no way you can eliminate all of them.'
'I don't have to. Most of the group aren't in on the planning, are they? They do their jobs, the food and supplies - they know nothing about our plans. And talking of plans, I've had another idea.'
'Oh, what?'
'To kidnap one of Evans's men in payment for Emily.'
'Bloody hell! That's bloody dangerous, Hannah!'
'This whole business is bloody dangerous! Anyway, the man I want is Smith. He goes round the Correction Centres, doing what, I don't know. But he's Fowler's stepfather.'
'Christ! That will piss Fowler off!'
'Exactly.'
'How do you know about him?'
'I have my spies, as they say. I'm setting up an intelligence network. I've already got two girls onto it and they came up with Smith when they were looking into Emily's whereabouts.'
'You do care about her, then?'
'What do you think I am, a cold-blooded bitch? Of course I care about her! She is... she was my best friend.'
'Sorry, I know how you must feel. Anyway, I'd love to see Evans's face right now! With two communications transmitters destroyed in one day he must be one angry man! And when he hears about the national grid transformer - bloody hell!' 'What's the latest?' Evans asked as Fowler's face appeared on the videophone.
'Hello, Richard. I'm at the Centre now. I've...'
'What the fuck is happening with that Johnson woman? Has she told you anything yet?'
'No, not exactly.'
'Why not?'
'Give me time.'
'You've had time, and so have the EFW. So much time, in fact, that they've wrecked the Sussex Downs communications link, and to make matters worse, another band of bitches has destroyed the north London link.'
'I know. Just a little more time and...'
'And I suppose we'll lose the Crystal Palace transmitter, the Leeds transmitter, Liverpool, Birmingham, Wrexham... I'm fast losing contact with all our divisions. How the hell do a bunch of women know about communications transmitters, anyway? Christ, they'll be knocking out the satellite
