I want to see my fiancée first though. Now if you would let us have a minute. I would like to be able to kiss my soon-to-be-wife goodbye.” Oliver turned to me and smiled at me.
“You have nothing to worry about. I only care about you. You’re going to be my wife. You better get used to it, you are stuck with me.”
I grinned at his words and kissed him with all the passion I could muster. I wanted him to feel my love for him before he left. I wanted him to remember the feeling of my lips on his while we were separated.
“Okay, babe, I gotta go. Or I will miss my flight.”
I watched him walk through security and when I couldn’t see him any longer I made my way back to my car. Cody was waiting for me there.
“You should forget about him. He is not going to stay with you. He will realize there’s someone better out there for him. I wouldn’t even bother planning a wedding if I was you.”
I glared at him. “I don’t know what I have done to you, but Oliver and I are happy. We love each other and just because you’re jealous you don’t have to ruin what we have. If you were a true friend you would be happy for him, you selfish fucking prick.”
I got in my car and drove off not able to shake the nagging feeling that Cody was somehow right.
“Bullshit, Oliver loves me. He proposed to me. We are getting married.”
Once I got home I locked myself in my room. I just wanted to hide for days and cry my eyes out. I wanted to have Oliver by my side - not across the country where I couldn’t see him every day. After a while, I didn’t have any more tears and fell into a restless sleep. I felt a hand brushing my hair out of my face and saw Caige sitting on the edge of my bed.
“Get up, babygirl. Let’s get ice cream and watch Netflix. No more tears, you will see him again soon.”
“I don’t want to. Leave me in my misery.”
“Enough. I am not going to watch you pity yourself.” Caige lifted me out of bed. That’s when he saw the ring on my finger.
    “What’s this?”
“Umm...Oliver asked me to marry him at the airport and I said yes. Please, Caige, don’t make a big deal out of this.”
“Well, you know I think it’s too soon. But if you are happy I am. So congratulations.”
I knew why he was my best friend.

Chapter 2

“Earth to Skye, where are you? We are here.” Faith looked at me with a concerned look on her face. I looked around and saw that we were at the airport. Four long months later and I would finally get to see Oliver in a few hours.
“I was just thinking about Oliver. About how we met and our first few months together. I can’t wait to see him in a few hours. Four months is way too long.”
Oliver and I had been together for one and a half years but the last nine months we had only seen each other three times. I lived for the daily texts, phone calls and skype sessions. It was a hard number on both of us and sooner or later I would have to move out there if I wanted to be with him. Despite what he had said in the beginning he re-enlisted and was about to deploy for a year. This would be the last time I saw him before he went to Afghanistan. I didn’t want to think about it. I dreaded this visit as much as I was excited about it. Lately Oliver had been short on calls and texts, but I figured it had to do with the deployment coming up. I knew he was worried about that. I made it through security and boarded my plane. Four hours and I would be in the arms of my man again. I was ready for it. I leaned back and drifted off to sleep. I was exhausted from not being able to sleep the night before. I would get a nap in so I would have more energy when I met Oliver.
The plane came to a stop and I impatiently waited for all the passengers to get off the plane. I promised myself to fly first class next time. This economy shit was for the birds. When I finally made it out of the plane I hurried to get my luggage. I walked out to the arrivals lobby and was looking around for
