over her
shoulder. “I wasn’t sure what you preferred to eat. So I requested a hearty
meal. Since for the most part, I survive on nutrish-shakes, it surprised the
culinary department and they asked me to zip them a second request.” Turning,
she placed a tray on the kitchen table. “I hope you like targon stew.”
“Anything is fine.”
She took her drink from the tray and seated herself in the
chair farthest from him. He stared at her. “Kari, about earlier—”
“I don’t want to discuss it.” She cut him off and her eyes
flashed with anger and pain. “You’ve had time to digest the information. Who do
you think is responsible?”
“Core or Blake.”
She nodded. “Harmon doesn’t have the intelligence to alter
my original formula. It would be my guess that he hired Justina to do the dirty
work, leaving his manicured hands clean.”
“Did he ever approach you about changes in the formula?”
“No.” She shook her head. “He would know better. He knows
how I feel about addictive drugs.”
They had their suspects but now they needed proof to make an
arrest before the next shipment hit the market. “We need proof before another
shipment goes out.”
“I can get your proof.”
He narrowed his eyes on her. He had the feeling he wasn’t
going to like the answer to his next question. “How?”
“I’ll approach Harmon, inform him of the inconsistency and
tell him I intend to alert the authorities. If he’s guilty, he won’t let that
happen,” Kari replied matter-of-factly.
Mav closed his eyes. She had no idea with whom she was
dealing. It would probably never enter her head that a desperate drug dealer
was capable of anything. “No. He’ll kill you.”
“I think that’s a little overly dramatic.” Her brows drew
together. “But in any case, that’s where you come in, First Commander.”
“It’s too dangerous and we won’t have evidence against
Blake.”
“Believe me, if Harmon thinks he’s going down, he’ll turn on
Justina.”
“I can’t let you do it.”
“You can’t stop me but you can help me. Help me stop him
from using a product I developed for such destructive purposes,” Kari pleaded,
her eyes softening marginally as she spoke.
Mav considered her for a moment. If he refused her wishes,
it was possible she would take matters into her own hands and he wouldn’t be
around to protect her. That would be extremely dangerous. He knew what this
meant to her and he wanted to help her clear her name.
“Okay. I’ll go along with your plan but we’ll do it my way.”
“Obviously, this is your area of expertise. If you can be
ready, I’ll visit Harmon tomorrow. The sooner the better.” She raised her head
and her eyes drilled into his. “After it’s over, I don’t want to ever see you
again. But tonight…tonight, I want my droid in my bed.”
Mav’s heart thumped. There was no way he was ordering an
A.L.B. for Kari. The thought of any man, even a robotic man, touching her…fuck,
it wasn’t happening. “I don’t think we can provide a pleasure droid on
command.” Under his breath he murmured, “Even if we could, I wouldn’t.”
“I meant you. Your thick cock in my body, no
emotion…just fucking.”
Mav tried to swallow and breathe at the same time and almost
choked.
“I’m taking a soak,” she said. “You have one hour.”
He gaped at her as she turned away. She hadn’t just ordered
him to fuck her, had she?

A hiss of need escaped Kari’s lips and her hand traveled
across her breast. Her “droid” had brought her body to life and now it ached
with intense cravings. Her fingers plucked a nipple and a corresponding flutter
of heat settled between her thighs. Reaching down, she parted her slit to find
the hidden nub. Pleasure rippled through her as she applied light pressure to
the tender flesh. A shudder shook her frame. Her “droid” had stirred a deep
hunger within her and tonight he would satisfy it.
