in place.
His tongue flicked out from between his lips, running along hers. Without even thinking, because there was no thinking in his arms, she opened her mouth to allow his tongue entrance. It slipped inside, letting him deepen the kiss, which made his arms pull her closer to him. Her breasts pressed against his chest and her hips pushed into his, as he made known just how much he wanted her.
Until this point, Kate had been a mostly passive participant, but when she felt him hard, pressed against her clothed center, she couldn’t help herself.
She moaned into his kiss, her hands finding his chest and traveling up it—she loved how his cut muscles felt under her touch—to tangle into his blonde hair. He made a low growling sound that reverberated in his chest.
His hands moved downward along her body, both of them reaching her rear and grabbing a handful. She made a small whimper as he lifted her off the ground, depositing her on his desk. Papers and pens scattered to the floor, but neither of them cared. He leaned over her, kissing along her neck and collarbone. His hands gripped her hips, traveling down her thighs to her knees, which he pulled up to sit on either side of his waist.
Kate wrapped her legs around his middle obligingly, allowing his hands to move upward again, taking her tight pencil skirt and hiking it up. Her hands raked through his hair then down his back. Her skirt got bunched up at her hips, his hands massaging her thighs and moving inwards towards her panties.
Her breathing became ragged and she found herself anticipating the moment his thick, long fingers press into—
The door opened suddenly and they both paused, heads turning to see the janitor walk in pulling his cart behind him. Blaine got off her immediately with a softly spoken curse. He took her hand and pulled her up with him. She pulled down her skirt back to her knees just as the janitor looked over and saw the two of them standing there, breathing heavily.
“Oh, Mr. Blaine,” he said, surprise written across his face. “I didn’t realize you were still here. I’ll just—”
“That’s alright Jim,” Blaine said briskly, hiding his earlier hunger with surprising efficiency. “Ms. Kaufmann and I were just saying goodnight. Thank you with your help regarding the Mortensen documents.”
Kate cleared her throat. “Of course, Mr. Blaine.”
He took her hand, turning it into a shake before it could look too suspicious. Whispering so that only she could hear, he said, “Call me Lucas.”
She couldn’t help the blush that tinted her cheek as she gave a barely perceptible nod. With effort, she pulled away her hand and turned to walk out, unwilling to meet the janitor’s eyes on her way out. It wasn’t until she was in the elevator three floors down that she let out a shaky breath and let her head slump against the wall.
What the hell was she doing?

Chapter 4
K ate couldn’t sleep that night. She just kept playing what had happened in Blaine’s—Lucas?—office earlier. How he caught her in his office, how he interrogated her, how he hadn’t seemed to really care about her answers when he pressed his lips against hers.
She had to admit to herself that Lucas Blaine was definitely hot—and intense and strong and incredibly handsome.
And all of that meant that she was going to have a really rough time taking his company down if she didn’t get herself under control.

T he next day, Kate walked into the building with a mission. She was going to get her story and get the hell out of there. No more cuddling up with the company CEO. No more hot and heavy interrogations. No more mindless attraction. She was going to march in there and not get distracted.
She took a seat at her desk and began to immediately sift through stacks of papers trying to find something that would save her career. That was the problem though, everything that came across her desk seemed squeaky clean. Everything about Blaine seemed
