    “Because everybody’s looking.” She swatted at my hands but I held tight.
    “So what, let them.” Her eyes went to the girls in their cheering uniforms heading to practice, and I could see the longing on her face.
    “Just another week or so baby and you’ll be back out there.”
    “But it doesn’t hurt anymore, I wanna practice now.” She was so adorable when she pouted like that.
    “That’s just the meds talking. We already had this conversation. You try that shit I’ma tan your ass right here.” She rolled her eyes and huffed. I guess that’s her way of calling me on my shit.
    “Babe, gimme a break okay, just go sit in the stands with Belle and Tammy. Read a book or some shit if you’re bored.”
    “Fine, I’m not talking to you.” She folded her arms and stomped her foot. So cute! “What’s this like the tenth time today? Take your little ass over there and behave.” She growled at me, my lil beast.
    I moved in for a kiss and jumped back just as fast. “Hey.” I rubbed a finger over my lip where the pain in the ass nipped me. “You’re so gonna pay for that later. Gimme that mouth.” She howled with laughter and tried evading me but I nabbed her around her middle and spun her around until she begged to be let down. I stole a kiss and patted her ass before sending her on her way. I watched as she headed to the stands where her friends were waiting.
    She looked so small the farther away from me she got. I sometimes forget what a tiny bit of a thing she is. It’s that damn mouth of hers. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night scared out of my mind worrying about how I was going to keep her safe for the rest of our lives. Gives me the sweats. If I could I’d wrap her up in something soft and lock her in my room where she would always be safe.
    I’m still shook from finding her in that damn alley. For the rest of my life I’ll have that visual in my head and nothing was going to erase it. Not even when we find the asshole responsible. That’s why it’s so hard to give dad what he’s asking for. I’ll stay away from the succubus for now, but no way was I going to stop looking for answers. She deserves better than that from me.
    “Dude, Stanley’s on the warpath again.” Alex jogged up beside me with his helmet in hand breaking my train of thought.
    “The fuck I care about that hump?” Stanley could get fucked. I barely give that guy a second’s thought these days. He seems to have a chip on his shoulder, and that stunt Sian had pulled weeks ago when she was trying to teach me a lesson hadn’t helped things.
    I did notice that he’s been acting strange on the field during practice but that wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle. As long as he stayed the fuck away from my girl I didn’t really care what he did. “I just thought you should know. Guy looks a little off to me and you know he’s not sane.”
