concerned.
“Nothing. Ah, let me clean her up. This was quite an introduction to the squad, you know.”
Derrick chuckled. “An introduction. That’s one way of putting it.”
“At least we’re still in one piece. Most of us are, at least.” Ace glared at Zack, who wisely said nothing.
Roane took charge again. “I suggest one of you call Kelly in case she comes home early.” Ace and Zack paled and dashed for the phone. “Let her know we’ll take care of the damage. Hale, maybe you want to fill Doc in on our new friend’s situation. Derrick, grab our clothes, would you?”
They all kept an extra set of clothing at Kelly’s, just in case. Anytime they changed without undressing first, they had major wardrobe problems.
Roane took Caitlyn into the shower and cleaned her up. He paid particular attention to her sex, gratified that though she’d been well used, her body suffered no bruising or external damage. Another plus to being a Circ.
She slept through it all, not even rousing when he dried her off. With her long, honey blonde hair slicked back, her skin soft, tanned and flushed, and dark lashes fanning her cheeks, Caitlyn Chase looked like an angel.
Damn. This woman just took three beasts to paradise with that sweet pussy and skilled mouth? This innocent thing? Though her file listed her in her late twenties, she looked much younger, except for that killer body.
Forcing himself to think about anything other than the prime female in his arms, Roane allowed himself the one thing he’d been wanting to do since laying eyes on her. A glance at the bathroom door showed it still closed, and Caitlyn hadn’t stirred.
He leaned down and kissed her soft lips. Instant connection.
Caitlyn tensed, murmured something incoherent, then sighed into his mouth. She returned the kiss for a split second before seeming to nod off again.
His lips trailed from her mouth to her cheek to her forehead. She snuggled closer to him, and Roane groaned. Crowding the lust in his belly was an unsettling, heavy sensation of contentedness. And he knew that no matter what the PPA, Doc, or his men wanted, he was keeping this one. Until I have her figured out, he hastily corrected himself. Then her ass is gone, and life continues as normal. We hunt the PPA. We take down Pearson Labs. We capture rogue Circs.
He met his blurred reflection in the mirror. His chin rested on her golden head -- so small, so vulnerable. Her face lay against his chest, and her breath drifted over his skin, her scent marking him, mingling with his. He tightened his hold around her, protecting the sexy woman he’d only just found.
Kill her if she’s rogue? If she’s sane, give her to Doc to rehabilitate and send away? No way in hell.
“I am so screwed.”
Chapter Three
Kelly Malloy closed her cell phone with a solid snap.
“Problem?” Evan asked, peering through his glasses. He didn’t like the look in his assistant’s light blue eyes.
“The guys did some damage at my place, Doc.”
“Oh?” Another mating heat? They shouldn’t have had one so soon. Calculating, Evan realized they should have had another two weeks before dealing with that hormonal overload.
“Ace said their new acquisition had some problems they hadn’t anticipated.” Evan kept his face expressionless, not wanting to set Kelly off on another tangent that would inevitably revolve around the irritating Zack and Ace. If he wasn’t mistaken, the young woman seemed green with envy. Interesting.
“No one got hurt, I take it?”
She shook her head. “Ace said Hale would be calling you with details.” At that moment, the phone rang. “Kelly, set up the additional room in the observation wing, just in case our new Circ isn’t the monster we’ve been expecting.”
Kelly gave him a stiff nod and left. Evan picked up the phone, sighing at the mess on his expansive mahogany desk. Hell, he couldn’t see the desktop anymore. Time to let Kelly organize again, as she’d been
