louder than she hoped for because it was that loud
curse that woke up her naked best friend and equally naked husband.
For a few seconds she couldn’t move as Steven pulled a towel
over him and Julie but with both of them tugging, it barely covered
their vitals. Meg finally found the strength to take a step to her
left and leaned against the wall.
“ I
am scarred for life,” she
thought as she closed her eyes.
Chapter Three
July
2004.
After
a long two weeks of mid-terms, Julie and her friends decided to take
a road trip to Vegas. She knew that her father probably would not
have allowed it but she did it anyway. She needed to get her mind off
things and what better way than to indulge herself? To make things
even better, she would get a chance to spend some time with her new
boyfriend Allan. When they were all packed, they took Allan’s
car since it was bigger and began on the adventure of a lifetime.
Allan was driving and Julie was in the passenger seat.
“ You
better buckle up,” Allan said as they drove.
Julie
smiled and shrugged.
“ As
soon as I finish this hotdog,” she said. He looked at her and
smiled. Their friends Rue and Phil were busy making out in the back
seat without thinking of how uncomfortable they were making Julie and
Allan. “You guys need to cool it,” Julie said as she
looked at them in the rear view mirror.
Phil
pulled away from Rue and smiled.
“ Well,
you can’t blame us if we cannot wait. We have put off any and
every sense of intimacy since…I don’t even know when,”
Phil said.
“ Come
on, it’s just been two weeks,” Rue said as she smoothed
down her top.
“ Well,
two weeks for a dude is like ten years,” Phil said smiling.
“Right dude?” he asked looking at Allan in the rear view
mirror. Allan shook his head and then shrugged.
“ Good
choice,” Julie said with a smile. “So, Rue. You did talk
to the guy at that hotel right?” she asked as she turned
around. Rue nodded.
“ Yeah,
I did. He is expecting us,” she said.
“ Wait,
what guy? Who are you talking about?” Phil asked.
“ The
guy I met at the fair last year. He said that his family owns this
hotel in Vegas and that they would give us a good deal if we ever
visited,” Rue said as she brushed her hair with her fingers.
Phil
shook his head.
“ Give
us a good deal or give you the deal?” he asked.
“ What
is that supposed to mean?” she asked.
Julie
knew exactly what he meant and where this was going.
“ That
guy was flirting with you. Do you think he offered us a stay at a
five star hotel at a discount?” Phil asked. Julie looked at
Allan. She opened her mouth to talk but Allan shook his head, a sure
sign that she shouldn’t get involved. She took a long deep
breath and faced forward. She would have given anything to get out of
this moment in time. Rue and Phil’s fights always ended up
bad…really bad.
“ So
what if he was? Don’t you trust me enough to make my own
decisions or do you think that I might just jump into bed with the
next guy who shows me a kind hand?” Rue asked.
“ You
always do this, Rue. What the fuck!” Phil yelled.
“ Hey!”
Julie said but Allan put a hand on hers and she turned around,
focusing her attention on the road ahead. Allan looked at her and
smiled before he turned on the radio and turned it up. But even then,
Julie could still hear Rue’s high pitched voice and Phil’s
violent voice.
“ Come
on, Rue. You are always leading guys on so that you can have your
way,” Phil said.
Rue
flipped her hair around and laughed cynically.
“ Fuck
you Phil!” she yelled.
“ Fuck
me? Fuck you bitch!” Phil said.
“ Alright
guys, you need to tone it down a little,” Allan said as he
looked at the two through the rear view mirror.
“ It
is just…you know what, Allan. Stop the car. I don’t need
this fucking trip,” Rue said.
“ Oh
please. Now she gets all dramatic,” Phil said.
By
this time, the atmosphere in the car was getting out of
